Delhi Cantonment Board is responsible for overall sanitations of the Delhi Cantonment such as garbage lifting, waste disposal, cleaning of drains, public roads &various public places. The sanitation section of Delhi Cantonment Board looks after such areas as public roads &places, waste disposal, cleaning of drains and garbage lifting. In order to provide a clean and safe environment, the Board has recently started door to door collection of Municipal waste through “PATHEYA” NGO for separation of bio &non-bio degradable waste. Mobile plastic, dustbin are placed at suitable locations and the waste is collected mechanically from there for disposal. Delhi Cantonment is maintaining over 1000 dustbins and 1400 manpower for provisioning of conservancy services. Board is also maintaining Sewer Jetting machine and Road Broomer, other equipment like JCB's, Super Succors etc are engaged through outsourcing agencies.
Delhi Cantonment Board is implementing guidelines issued by the Ministry of Urban Development under Swachh Bharat Mission. Regular cleaning drives with public participation are being encouraged. Delhi Cantonment was ranked 15th cleanest city in India by Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India ahead of NDMC. Delhi Cantonment received Hon’ble RM’s award for Swachh Chhavni – Swasth Chhavni consequently for the year 2014 & 2015. Delhi Cantonment is highly privileged that Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament is Brand Ambassador of Delhi Cantonment Swachh Bharat Mission.
Further, the Cantonment Board realizes need for waste recycling plants for better handling of MSW as an initiative towards Swachh Chavani- Swastha Chavani. Board has approved establishing of waste recycling plants for conversion of waste to organic compost/energy, conversion of plastic waste to fuel and conversion of horticulture waste to bio fuel. The Delhi Cantonment Board has also engaged M/s Mecon Ltd. for establishing a sewage treatment plant for Village Jharera, Delhi Cantt. and engaged School of Planning Architecture for comprehensive improvements to sewerage system and drainage system of all wards, in order to implement directions issued by Hon’ble Principal Bench of National Green Tribunal under project "Maili Se Nirmal Yamuna".
- 1. The citizens are responsible for deposit of garbage at the dust bins provided by the Board.
- 2. The citizens shall not use or permit to be used as latrines or urinal any place not intended for the purpose.
- 3. Citizens shall take all reasonable means to prevent child from easing in public street or public places.
- 4. The citizens will provide receptacles of self-closing type within their premises
- 5. The occupier of all Bungalow/Houses will keep their premises neat and clean.
